Recreational programs are typically the first exposure for
children to the game of soccer. At Amelia Island Youth Soccer, we
look to instill a love of the game for each and every player we have in our
program. Our Recreation Program is targeted towards children from
the Under 6 (U6) group all the way through the Under 16 (U16) age group.
Any child of any ability level is welcome to play. The Recreational
Program is open to all applicants, regardless of
ability (dependent only on facility space and coach availability). All teams will have between 8-10 games per season and practice one or two times a week.
Seasons
The Recreational Program has two seasons per year:
Fall (September – November) Registration opens late May and closes in the middle of August.
Spring (March – May) Registration opens November and usually closes in the middle of February.
For the Spring 2024 season, registration will close on February 18th, 2024. Players registering after this date will be waitlisted and will not be guaranteed roster assignments.

Team Assignments U6, U8, U10, U12, U14, U16
Team assignment is
based on a single season. Teams are formed using age and
gender to build teams equally. Coaches in all age groups are
volunteers; please be sure to indicate on your child’s form if you are willing
to volunteer to coach. No attempt will be made to insure returning
players stay on same team. Nassau United FC attempts to honor as many requests as
possible but absolutely no guarantees can be made.
Playing Time
Youth recreational soccer focuses on the
development of the player. It is an opportunity for each child to learn
individual skills and teamwork skills. Youth recreational soccer is not
focused on winning or losing; it is about each child playing to the best
of his or her ability while having fun. It is about rewarding
effort. Therefore, regardless of ability, each recreational player is
guaranteed playing time during one half of each game. It is the coach’s
responsibility to ensure that every child plays an appropriate amount of time.
